Vijayalakshmi is Veerappan’s wife

The guessing game has come to an end, one has to say. After considering many actresses to play the female lead in 'Vana Yudhdham', a bio-pic on sandalwood smuggler Veerappan, director A M R Ramesh has finally zeroed in on Vijayalakshmi.
The 'Chennai 600028' & 'Anjathey' actress will play the wife of Kishore, who is doing Veerappan's role in this film. "Ramesh selected Vijayalakshmi since she has that perfect Tamil face," sources say.
Earlier, Priyamani was considered for the role, but the actress reportedly rejected the offer due to some 'reasons'. To be made simultaneously in Tamil and Kannada, the Kannada version has been titled 'Attahasa'.

When both Surya & Karthi enjoy a big market in Andhra Pradesh, almost all their films are dubbed into Telugu. Karthi had his Paruthiveeran, Aayirathil Oruvan and Paiyaa dubbed in Telugu which turned out to be hits.Recently, Naan Mahaan Alla is dubbed as “Naa Peru Shiva” for which he has been stationed inHyderabad. There he told reporters that he would be doing a straight Telugu film to be directed byBommarilu Baskar.

Karthi says that he wants to honor the support given by the Telugu audiences for his film by acting in a straight Telugu film. It will be a neatly packed commercial entertainer, typical of Telugu movies. Though it is all about the market, Karthi has rhetorically maintained that he signs a straight Telugu film for the sake of the audience.
Vikram gets back to Rajapattai

Rajapattai shoot was stalled after the arrest of the producer Ramesh Babu by the Andhra Police. The shoot couldn’t progress, since there was nobody else to look after the production duties. The set which was constructed in a studio at Saligramam did not see any activity for almost a month.
The shoot was started again over the last week after which the shoot took place regularly, much to the relief of Vikram. Rajapattai is directed by Suseenthiran who makes his fourth film after Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu, Naan Mahaan Alla and Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai.

Almost all of Vikram’s films have languished in production hell at one point of time or other which have led to his pay cuts, at times, but his recent success with Deiva Thirumagal has helped him regain the top spot. Rajapattai is a commercial entertainer which Vikram has not done so far for about half a decade at least.

Glamour has no life – Anushka
"Performance-oriented roles will live in the minds of the audience for a long time when compared to glamourous ones. The latter only gives short-lived joy. I understood this with films like Arundhathi and Deiva Thirumagal," says Anushka.

Saying that both the films had fetched her loads of laurels, the actress adds: "Deiva Thirumagal and Arundhathi offered me meaty characters. There is no place for glamour in these two movies. And I believe I have done justice to them."
On Vikram, the protagonist of 'Deiva Thirumagal', she says, "From the first day of the shoot till the last day, Vikram was only seen as Krishna, a man with the mental maturity of a five-year-old. He had totally transformed himself to the role."
Meanwhile, 'Deiva Thirumagal' has successfully completed its 25-day run today, with accolades still pouring in from various quarters. Produced by Sri Rajakaliamman Medias and released by UTV Motion Pictures, the film was directed by AL Vijay.

Taapsee sheds a few pounds

"You will get to see a slim, new Taapsee in Vendhaan Vendraan," says the 'Aadukalam' actress, adding: "I am playing an architect in this Jeeva-starrer directed by Kannan and have shed weight considerably."
"The role demanded me to reduce some kilos. Also, shuttling between Maharashtra, Kerala, Puducherry and Goa for the shoots has automatically made me slimmer," the Punjbai kudi says with a smile.
On the film, she says, "Unlike other commercial movies which don't have much scope for the heroine, Vendhaan Vendraan is quite different. Kannan has ensured that my character forms an integral part of the script."
180 - Degree of love

It was seven years back Kollywood last saw Siddharth on screen, in Mani Ratnam's 'Ayudha Ezhuthu'. The chocolate hero is now back, with '180', directed by Jayendra, who is admired by none other than Mani Ratnam.

A popular ad filmmaker, Jayendra is venturing into big screen with '180'. In Mani's own words, "Jayendra as a talented person. It is my longtime wish that he should direct a movie. It has come true now."

Interestingly, there is a buzz in the industry that '180' will be on the lines of Mani's romantic films, throwing light on the emotions shared between lovers. And we have two heroines here- Priya Anand and Nithya Menon- to do the needful in the company of Siddharth.

Sathyam Cinemas and Aghal Films have jointly produced '180', which has music by popular Mollywood composer Sharreth. The film is shot on Phantom and Red One digital camera and the visuals in the movie are on par with international standards, we learn.

Giving details about the film, Jayendra says, "I guess I am the oldest director to debut. Jokes apart, the film is a contemporary love story. But it is not just any triangular love story, but goes beyond it."

On the lead actors, he says, "While Siddharth is a bundle of energy, Priya Anand and Nithya Menon have given their best. All the three have cooperated well and the output is good."

Heaping laurels on music composer Sharreth, Jayendra says, "He came out with 180 tunes for the film, reflecting it title. I had a tough time to choose the best from his tunes as all of them were extremely good."

Finally, Siddharth too has something to say about the film. "The reason behind me not acting in Tamil for many years was that I didn't come across nice scripts. Thanks to Jayendra, I am back in Kollywood now. 180 is a beautiful story and I loved to be part of it."

With promising persons promising a lot about '180', expectations are high on the film. Let's hope the end-product to be a fulfilling experience.
