Engeyum Eppothum music review
Isai cocktail
The title from the famous song from the trio - K Balachander, MS Viswanathan and Kannadasanin the film Ninaithale Inikkum. The line got popularity after its remix from Dhanush starrerPollathavan. The new film is directed by Saravanan for Fox Star Studios with the music directorSathya. The lyrics are from Na.Muthukumar, and the director himself. Now the songs are on the air with mediocre profile to reach the audience. Sathya has done a good job in securing his name through this album and makes a good mark over his talent.
The songs are quite good to listen to and are able to catch our attention at the first instance. Altogether there are five numbers in this album with voice rendition from most new comers likeMadhushree, Sayonora Philip, Ranina along with Boney, Vijay Prakash and the director himself. Here is the review of the songs.
Govindha
Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar
Playback: Boney, Vijay Prakash, Ranina
The song is quite impressive from the point of view of the lyrics. Na.Muthukumar has infused a new sense of emotional upsurge in this song. The voice mingling from Ranina, Vijay Prakash and Boney is remarkable. Particularly Vijay excels in his portion with natural flair. The instrumentation is creative and experimental as well. Sathya is understood to have fulfilled the needs of the director.
A good start indeed.
Sotta Sotta
Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar
Playback : Chinamyee
It is always a feast to listen to the voice of Chinmayee whether it is melody of pep song. Her natural rendition in this song is obvious as the lyrics too are simple and catchy. Perhaps Sathya might have visualized the song much before the recording. Chinmayee does a neat execution as evident from her maturity. The instruments in this song are much different from the conventional and Sathya tries to implement a new dimension to melody.
Very good attempt!
Maasamaa
Lyrics: Saravanan
Playback: Sathya
This is the outcome of the combination from the directors – Saravanan and Sathya -. It is not surprising to note the music director himself coming out with a number. Sathya justifies his role as a singer and the lyrics are noteworthy for the ability of Saravanan. The song reminds us of Deva of the yesteryears and the solo voice is ideal that Sathya has rendered this for his sake. Whether this could be treated as melody or item or pathetic, the song is ideally crafted by Sathya with his own voice. We must wait and see the movie to realize the choice.
Un Perai Theriyathu
Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar
Playback: Madhushree
This item from Na.Muthukumar is unique with the love and romance coming to the terms on single row. The lines are quite interesting to listen and the voice of Madhushree is seducing us with magical tone. Though we have not got much numbers from Madhushree of late, this song reveals her challenge to find a place in the music world. Sathya has some reserved instruments for this song and the song is akin to Akkam Pakkam from Kreedam with the tune of GV Prakash. Yet it appeals to us with good moments.
Uyir Arunthathe
Lyrics: Saravanan
Playback: Sayonara Philip
A need for a sentimental tone and the message of the movie comes in the way of Saravanan’s philosophical lines. Sathya has identified a good voice in Philip whose rendition is at its peak from the very beginning. Perhaps the sense of the song requires that much of pitch variation. Sathya has tried his very best by using a lot of instruments to make this song a real attribute to the loss of love.Saravanan’s lyrics are realistic in approach and are direct to our heart. Sure to hit the youth very soon.
Conclusion:
The team effort from the director Sarvanan, the music director Sathya and the lyricistNa.Muthukumar has done a wonderful job. The songs are just moderate to be appreciated as from the new comer. Who knows the songs may hit the air with their varied tones and tunes. Though nothing new is in the songs, Sathya is at his helm to prove that he can be relied for more albums. The visuals from the movie may add momentum to the songs and we shall wait till then.
