Is Reema Sen avoiding Tamil Cinema?

Reema Sen has signed another film in Telugu, opposite Jagapathy Babu directed by G.Easwar! The only other film she is doing in south is the romantic comedy titled Mugguru directed by VN Aditya in Telugu.

Reema Sen has Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseyapur ready for release soon. Why is Reems as she is called by her friends in the industry not doing a Tamil film?

The actress may have debuted in Tollywood, but it is Kollywood films like Minnale, Bhagavathi, Dhool,Chellame,Vallavan and Aayirathil Oruvan that made her a glam girl.

It looks like Reema Sen was avoiding Kollywood for the last five years during which she had just two releases - Thimiru, Vallavan and Aayirathil Oruvan! Recently, Iti Srikantha a Bengali art-house film was dubbed into Tamil as Ilavarasi just on the strength of Reema Sen's glam image.

She had the best of offers but had declined them citing various reasons.

​Wedding bells for Trisha?

South Indian Cinema's leading glamour actress Trisha, as per the grapevine is getting engaged in September! The rumour mills have it that she has got hooked to Amruth, a young Chennai based entrepreneur.

Trisha's mom Uma was getting restless and she wants her daughter to settle down. She was groom hunting for the last few months and zeroed in on this eligible bachelor from a business family inChennai.

But the twist in the tale was that Trisha was in no mood for an arranged marriage and insisted that she wanted to spend more time with the guy.

Amruth and Trisha have been spotted at all the popular joints in Chennai having cozy dinners or partying with common friends.

And whenever she gets a break from her Telugu film for which she is shooting in Hyderabad, she rushes back to be with her gang (read Amruth).

And last week, when she received the 'style award' from a popular media house, Amruth was spotted in the front row to cheer her and later at the big bash she threw for her friends. However, the camaraderie and positive vibes among the couple were there for everyone to see.

SouthDreamz.com did not contact her, knowing very well that the family is not going to comment on it, but we understand that Trisha will be tying the knot only next year.

Court summons Shilpa Shetty

The First Class Magistrate Court, Siwan, has issued summons to Shilpa Shetty and others for 'hurting' the Indian and Bhojpuri culture through a television programme. The case was filed by a lawyer and president of Bhojpuri Kranti Parishad, Ramji Singh.

Others who were ordered summons along with the Bollywood actress were popular Hollywood actorRichard Gere, managing director, director and the then announcer of a private television channel.

On April 15, 2007, the private channel had shown a programme relating to AIDS control in which Shilpa and Gere had appeared. Singh said Gere kissed Shetty on her cheeks several times, which was 'an indecent act'. "It is a crime under Sections 294 and 500 of the IPC", Singh said.

According to Singh, Section 294 mentions that one cannot show an indecent act publicly. Regarding Section 500, he said one cannot defame the President, Governor and a woman through his vulgar acts.

Nandha & Poorna to pair up in ‘Vellore Mavattam’

The trend of films getting named after cities and districts has been on the increase in the past few years. In the same mode comes another film titled ‘Vellore Mavattam’ starring Nandha and Poornaas the lead pair. Despite their talents, both Nandha & Poorna aren’t exactly flooded with offers but ‘Vellore Mavattam’ could just change that.

RNR Manohar, who last directed the Nakul-Sunania starrer ‘Maasilamani’ more than a couple of years is back, is making a comeback of sorts as director with ‘Vellore Mavattam’. The film means many things to Manohar, Nandha and Poorna who count on the film’s success at the box-offices to prop up their sagging careers. The film has comedian Santhanam and actor Shriman playing significant roles.

Nandha plays a cop with the hope that the role turns out to be a significant one for him in his career.Kollywood’s history is full of instances of films which have the heroes playing cop roles hitting the bull’s eye at the box-office. Nandha too is badly in need of such a miracle to sustain his career in Tamil.

In order to ensure that the cop story is sans any flaw in its script, Manhoar is said to have visited many senior and high-ranking real-life cops and have taken their suggestions and recommendations to modify the script accordingly.
